KNOW YOUR ENEMY!
In an interview just published by the notoriously right-wing Miami Herald, Honduran Army attorney Col. Herberth Bayardo Inestroza gives insight into who 21st-century socialists are fighting against.
He says that because he and other top military brass were trained to fight against socialists in the 80s, it would be impossible for them to ever work under a “leftist government.”
In the interview, Col. Inestroza admits that what happened in Honduras was an illegal military coup. But, in his mind, it was all justified because following the law would have resulted in an even worse outcome for his country.
“We know there was a crime there,” said Inestroza, the top legal advisor for the Honduran armed forces. “In the moment that we took him out of the country, in the way that he was taken out, there is a crime.”
But this was justified, he continues, because the choice was between either a military coup d’etat or a massacre:
“What was more beneficial, remove this gentleman from Honduras or present him to prosecutors and have a mob assault and burn and destroy and for us to have to shoot?”
Furthermore, he talks at length about the stranglehold that the military-oligarch alliance has had over Latin America and the resistance they will put up against the popular victories of social justice movements:
“We fought the subversive movements here and we were the only country that did not have a fratricidal war like the others,” he said. “It would be difficult for us, with our training, to have a relationship with a leftist government. That’s impossible. I personally would have retired,
because my thinking, my principles, would not have allowed me to participate in that.”
UNBELIEVABLE. The movement towards 21st-century socialism -is- a threat to the existing order in the Americas and they know it. They offer the people only two choices, in the end: military rule or death. It is up to us to show these bastards a third way – the end of their involvement in American society at all and the fulfillment of Che Guevara’s dream of popular social justice throughout all of the Americas.
The time is now and the place is here! The 21st-century socialist revival in the Americas will either survive and grow or it’ll be wiped out by people like Col. Inestroza. In 10 years, whatever the outcome, I want to be able to say I did everything I could possibly do to support this movement.
